'Gambling with Lives is a history of occupational health and the conflicts between workplace safety and regulations in Las Vegas, Nevada. The revised and expanded edition is updated through 2020 with new discussions of the Harvest Festival Shooting, Legionnaire's disease outbreaks at the resorts, work-related disorders in the service industry. Gambling with Lives says there are some issues associated with definitions and categorising the cases, and even if the numbers were relatively low, they represent a serious issue that is causing significant damage to public health. The gambling industry has been blamed for making gambling addiction among local problem gamblers worse. Gambling with Lives was set up by the families and friends of young people who had taken their own lives as a direct result of gambling. These were all very normal, bright, popular and happy young folk.
- Gambling with Our Lives looks at the root cause of these emergencies – which, the report argues, is an unsustainable development model driven by skewed policy choices and unfair rules of the game, often dictated by private financial interests before those of people and the planet.
- Gambling With Lives and The Big Step believe football’s relationship with gambling is at “saturation point.” The groups are pushing for a ban on gambling logos on any football kit, pitch side perimeter advertising, in-stadia advertising of gambling companies and league sponsorship.

It was good to see that such an important event was well-attended by MPs. And while many issues become the partisan property of one particular side, here concern was expressed by representatives of all parties. This widespread interest reminded me of events around freedom of religion or belief, and this widespread support bodes well for future attempts at gambling reform.
